Y160 Delivery Drone: A Safer and More Efficient Way to Transport Power Tower Materials in Mountainous Terrain
Insights on industrial UAV technology, applications, and industry trends.
Building power and communication infrastructure in mountainous regions is never an easy task. Steep slopes, narrow trails, and limited vehicle access often make transporting tower materials one of the most challenging and labor-intensive parts of a project.
Recently, TopXGun Y160 delivery drone was deployed to support the construction of a base station in the Songshan Mountains at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters. Its task was straightforward but demanding: transport tower materials from a staging area at the foot of the mountain directly to the tower foundation site.
Power tower construction requires a wide variety of components, many of which are large, bulky, and difficult to move manually. Some individual tower sections and accessories can weigh more than 50kg, making transportation across steep mountain paths both time-consuming and physically demanding. Traditionally, these materials would be carried by workers over long distances or transported using temporary access routes, resulting in high labor costs and increased safety risks.
With a maximum payload capacity of 165kg, Y160 is designed for heavy-duty transport operations in challenging environments. At the construction site, ground crews quickly attached tower materials to the drone's lifting system. Once airborne, Y160 transported the load directly to the tower foundation area, avoiding difficult terrain and eliminating the need for repeated manual hauling. The drone maintained stable flight performance throughout the operation, enabling accurate placement of materials exactly where they were needed.
One of the key advantages of drone transport is the ability to move materials quickly and consistently throughout the workday. During the project, a single battery set enabled the transportation of up to 600 kg of tower materials, helping construction teams maintain progress without delays caused by terrain or manpower limitations. By creating an aerial logistics route between the storage area and the construction site, Y160 significantly improved material delivery efficiency.
For infrastructure projects in mountainous regions, safety is always a top priority. Reducing the need for workers to repeatedly carry heavy materials across steep and uneven ground helps minimize physical strain and operational risk. At the same time, fewer labor hours are required for transportation tasks, resulting in lower overall construction costs. Compared with traditional manual transport methods, Y160 provides a safer, faster, and more cost-effective solution for delivering materials in difficult environments.
As drone technology continues to evolve, aerial transport is becoming an increasingly practical tool for infrastructure construction, emergency response, forestry operations, and mountain logistics.
For projects where terrain limits conventional transportation methods, TOPXGUN Y160 offers a reliable way to move heavy materials efficiently while improving both productivity and safety.
Whether supporting power tower construction, communication infrastructure deployment, or other remote-area operations, Y160 helps teams overcome geographic barriers and keep projects moving forward.
